March 2, 2015 at 12:40 pm in reply to: Would really love some advice on a raid controller card..Thank you rainer. Are there any particular cards you have experience of? I’m after something simple to rebuild should a drive fail and also simple to set up. I assume most come with their own configuration software?

February 9, 2015 at 8:55 am in reply to: do I need ASIO compliant sound card to output 5.1?well, years on and i’m still having issues with my soundblaster audigy 2 card outputting in 5.1 from premiere. It works for a while and then just stops and despite all the software showing it in 5.1 and nothing changing in the setup, I hear everything in each of the front speakers.
Can anyone recommend a slightly better sound card that wont give me such a headache when I try to set it up?

February 6, 2015 at 1:22 pm in reply to: Can you recommend a raid controller for a simple RAID0 video editing setup?im rapidly running out of time so I’m just going to have to go for a rocketRAID card.. there are just none others available to my eyes.
I might just get this, I havd a pcie 8x port free and this says its an 8 port card.. it mentions raid.. it mentions 8 port.. thats about as technical as I get, I just hope I don’t buy it and find it’s not compatible

January 30, 2015 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Can you recommend a raid controller for a simple RAID0 video editing setup?thansk David. I’ll need to read up on what SAS actually is as I’ve not heard of it before. If it’s just a new method of cabling for existing esata drives and it makes data transfer quicker then it seems silly not to go for it.
I’m just worried I wont be able to take in the information when I read up! I thought my pc building knowledge was ok but researching raid controllers alone has given me a headache!
Is the controller you recommended a SAS controller? (Im confident a “sas controller”) isnt even the right term.. told you I was useless!

January 26, 2015 at 3:23 pm in reply to: Can you recommend a raid controller for a simple RAID0 video editing setup?thank you, one recommendation is all i need as I’m really keen to get one asap. Unfortunately I can only find your one for sale in the states so may have to go down that route
Can you confirm that’s correct?
Also excuse the silly question but I don’t see 8 ports on the card.. how do the HDD’s connect or does just one connect to it?
