There’s very much an issue with the current version of AME when it relates to batches/ proxies but Adobe knows about it and hopefully they’ll get an update/ fix out shortly!

UPDATE: I ran Preference Manager and trashed all adobe preferences on one of the 5 systems and I am 10 minutes into a queue of a couple hundred clips. These are different clips than I was encoding previously but this batch was having the same UI issues. Will let these go overnight and see what I come in to tomorrow morning.

EDIT: To make matters stranger, when I command-tab into other apps, the progress bar seems to advance in the app icon – one of my favorite adobe features. Still super slow but it does seem to be more responsive than the app UI. The output file was still complete, though. It’s a whole thing that’s not making much sense to me. UI frozen, app icon slow, actual computing process works but is slow to start the next file. Am I the only one having this issue? That it’s on several systems across several OS versions seems strange.

Yeah, I saw your post, Laura, and hoped that this would be a slightly different issue since I am using AME to process proxies of my raw media. I don’t even have an edit yet! haha.
Mike – I haven’t had an issue sending to AME, it’ll launch and populate just fine – I can even drag media into it to manually create my proxies. It’s what happens 5 minutes in that really gets me. The UI just freezes. The processes continue in the BG though, although very slowly. I can monitor the destination folder and the files are created without issue. It’s just the UI that takes a dump and I just don’t know why.

Sorry, maybe I wasn’t clear. I don’t mind losing this transition all together. Not necessary for this project. I just don’t wanna see the dialog box every time I open it. Is installing this plugin pack the easiest way to do this? I wish there were a way to suppress it like “offline all” for missing media.

I was actually in that thread but got the dreaded “too many redirects” message from safari and chrome when I logged in to comment. There was an update released today that I am eager to test when I get back. Let me know if you install it and that fixes it. The offline everything and open and relink method sounds unnecessarily tedious, i don’t care how quickly it goes. I’ll keep and eye out here and on the adobe site (signed out seems to work for me to at least follow up.)

Thanks. I’ll be exploring this today. I was able to patch something together to make this work in that I got them to break and let me use AMA, AMA’d in the 4k clips, transcoded to PR422HQ in Avid, cut a sequence from the PR422HQ files, relinked to AMA, exported an AAF, Pro Imported to After Effects and was JUST ABOUT there. My comp size was wrong, my pixel aspect ratio was off, and something else I can’t remember right now but overall I technically got it working.
I am going to install 8 onto a second partition and test the workflow that way to see how that goes. I wonder if their shared storage can handle DNxHR files? We shall see and I’ll report back.
