Is the bin stored somewhere on the system so that I could back it up before any applying any future updates?

I have 2-1TB Satamax arrays from Promax (raid 0, I believe), that I use with my FCP Pro system at the office. I would like to be able to take these drives home on occasion, and edit with them on the new Mac Pro. I’m hoping all I need to do is pop the adapter into the PCIe slot, plug in the arrays, and be ready to go.
