    Thanks Gentlemen,

I did in fact use a sync point, in this case a iPhone Slate application.

The problem was the SR. The 7D is at 44.1 and my external audio is coming in a 48kHz. I’ll just re-sample the audio from the external source. I’ll know better next time!

Thanks for the tip about the .mp3 format. I know that I have some others to choose from.

I am going to do a drift test as well to see how long it takes the audio to get out of sync and I’ll no to watch for that next time.

    I appreciate all the help.

    Thanks for your help.

I am converting the files via MPEG Streamclip and it is working quite well. I am not sure why, but ProRes with MPEG is working better than the Squeeze and Compressor versions.

Either way this seems to be a solution for now.

    Thanks again,

    David

P.S. I closed FCP and removed the still image and I got rid of the green. But now I am getting that same I/O file error.

December 12, 2008 at 1:24 am in reply to: Canon XH A1 HD DV error. PLEASE HELP!

Well it could be a couple of things…

If you switched to HD 2 mins into the tape is it possible that you switched the frame rate as well? Canon’s 24F and 30F frame rates are proprietary so they will not play back on any other camera or deck other than the Canon.

The other possibility is that your friend’s camera is not registering the HD footage because the camera/editing system is set to only look for the SD footage. If his capture presets or camera is only set to look for SD the HDV won’t show. You will have to capture them separately. Make sure that you fast forward to the HDV footage and set your capture presets/camera to playback HDV. The camera/NLE won’t make the adjustment on the fly from SD to HDV. You will have to change the settings for each.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have my account settings set to always view the high quality. Unfortunately there is no video to link to at this point. I had to delete the final upload to make some changes. I just wondered if anyone had experienced the same or knew anything about it.

I dropped the filter and I added a custom padding of about 50 on the top and bottom. It eliminates most of the issue I think. Post if you can figure out the problem. It is a subtle difference but still somewhat noticeable. It isn’t terrible on b-roll WS but interviews you can definitely tell.

    Let me know

Also… Its squeezed horizontally not vertically. It seems like it is not completely scaling it into the letter box.

I brought the footage into compressor straight from FCP. I choose the quicktime present, added a letter box filter and then in the geometry tab changed the dimensions of the frame to 720 x 480. Sorry I wasn’t clearer to begin with.

    Thanks,
