After thinking about this, there is a downside to the approach Apple and Blackmagic is using. You want to use Resolve? Want to use this awesome editing software from Apple? Your hardware options are somewhat, to some extent, much more narrow, the proprietary variety. Of course, this extends into other industries to be sure.
For example, just talked to an elevator guy and companies like Otis are heading in that direction as well. Car industry might be next. Adobe does not make or sell hardware which is one reason subscription only came about. Might not agree with their business model but that is the way the ball bounces. No hardware that you are being tied to or a platform as is the situation with Motion.
That along with the fact that many or a few, based on your frame of reference is why there is an increase in software going rental only. Avid, in my opinion, takes a more sensible approach. Adobe, it is pay your rent or forget about it approach. Not something I am comfortable with. Carry on!

Is it possible that the next OS X will be a start of this? Will this help Linux? I am considering Resolve as an alternative just in case.

I guess the new OS X will finally put FCP Studio out to pasture for good. Still have the box, the discs and Shake. Just now waiting for Resolve 12 and Fusion to come out. I hope there will be improved playback performance.

Film is probably the most reliable means of storage and acquisition. Do me trust a digital camera or the hard drive? No way, not today and not tomorrow. Digital format is always changing bring new opportunities but more often challenges. Will it be compatible with my NLE of choice? Is my current system up to the task? Is my system obosolete?
At least in the dinosaur land, there was a much more universal workflow. Not anymore, with the constant changing environment. The format of today will be obosolete tomorrow. How it feels anyway.

I have not seen any new 35mm cameras on the market. Hoping for a kick starter company for a large format camera. Kodak does still make that format of film. I was lucky to purchase a used H 16 for a very reasonable price. Rather not say how much don’t want anyone getting jealous! 😉
Will say it is priced cheaper than the Rhonda camera.

As far as I know Bolex still makes film cameras, Pro 8mm sells new Super 8 cameras. Not sure of large film format, though. There is an Italian company that is making various formats of film, can’t remember the name at the moment. Also noticed that the standard 8mm format film is available.

Well, after watching a couple of videos the jargon (language) makes sense. While this new jargon is a bit silly, it makes sense. I have decided to go with the flow and go about editing.
Perhaps bringing someone in to watch a demonstration might help clear the air and end any confusion. I have since removed the pebble from my shoe. On to more important things.
