I guess it is time to update the graphics card. Resolve does not seem to support what is installed at the moment.

Thanks for sharing the article. To be on the safe side, just did a clean install, from the ground up. Going to install Resolve later today and follow instructions as listed.

I never got this message until after I installed Resolve on my system. Also found out that I really do not need to do an update since is this an ATI card on my system. Just getting very tired of getting this message. Please help!

Does it record sound as well? I plan to do some minor editing (as needed) in FCP X, assume this should not be an issue. Thanks for the fast response!

Have you tried the numerical values instead of the pucks? A middle scroll wheel on a mouse will increment each up or down, just like a slider.”

I have tried that method and it works. As far as individual slider controls, was referring to one for each color channel in the shadows, mids and highlights. Something that Color had. Just my opinion, but this does make for more precise color correction. I do like the scopes, much better than what was available in previous versions.

I also ran into a problem. I was signing and kept getting a message telling me that my user ID or password was not correct. After a few attempts I was successful at getting logged on. Given that this was just released and still in the beta stage, this should be expected. Other than that, everything is working fine. Kudos to Red Giant for acknowledging the situation and giving us an update. Their support staff is awesome!

[Oliver Peters] “A lot of you seem jazzed about this. What is the motivation over building your own with Motion or simply using the built-in effects in FCP X, Motion or AE? Are any of the Universe effects really superior? SuperNova seems like the RG approach to creating FCP X effects in Motion.”

Time is the biggest factor. It is nice to build your own effects from scratch, but sometimes that important client that brings in the money is the bigger priority. A client that is not happy because of their project is not done on time and within budget is not good for business.

Many of the effects are very good. It is not just one or two filters that are free; there are several included. Even better they are compatible with many host applications, which has a huge but positive implication when multiple people are working on the same project.

The only downside is that none of the “suite” products are included, at least for now. I would like to see a slightly lower price and a subscription option for those as well. Put them all together in one package and have a price structure similar to what Universe is would be a huge benefit.

Overall, this is something to be excited about. Now if we can get someone else to pay attention to this, things would be better. Adobe, are you really listening?

[Craig Seeman] “Subscription or a lower price than $995 to buy Continuum Complete?”

Keep the purchase price where it is now and offer a subscription like Universe has. Would live to see Red Giant offer the same thing for any of their suite products. People could subscribe with the option to purchase later or pay a premium price up front. When something new is added to the suite they can add later for a lower price that has already built in to the premium membership level.

Adobe should adopt a similar plan, but that is not likely to take place anytime soon.

I thought this news would add some activity to the Red Giant forum but this does not appear to be the case. In fact there has not been in real recent activity in that forum for some odd reason.

None of the suite products look to be included in the Universe, at least not now. I would also like to see a subscription model available for those products as well with the option to buy out. Will be interesting to see what does play out.

Regardless, it is nice to see something like this come out. Perhaps additional products will be added at later date and the suggestion above might be implemented. Will also be interesting to see whether Boris does something similar. Looks like interesting times ahead.
