the P2 Portable, AG-HPG20, does allow owners to extend the life of their Varicam and get a taste of what it is like to work in File-based workflow.

Does it record in 720/25p? I need to shoot for domestic/international distribution simultaneously.

(Shane) “I like the Caldigit drives, and the Maxx Digital quad interface drives. But do you mean bus powered?”

    A.C. powered will do.

How do I measure how much storage to bring?

    Greetings
I’m shooting a HVX200 to intercut with a Varicam project. What flavor of 24 should I use so that the HVX footage will drop into the Varicam timeline on FCP?

    Thanks

May 14, 2008 at 10:07 pm in reply to: 16g P2 into Mac Powerbook G4

It was a hardware issue. The ribbon cable from the PCI card slot to the board was loose. I opened up the computer and found the problem.
    Thanks for your help.

I’ve tried installing a new driver, but nothing happens. I’ve been through the install process half a dozen times now. Still, the P2 card does not show up on my desktop. Any idea how to do a systems check?
I know that it worked before my computer crashed. Why not now?

    Thanks

April 8, 2008 at 4:07 am in reply to: TSA & Batteries

I recently recieved a notice that the DOT cancelled this order until further notice. I called the DOT and the officer that ansered the phone said that it was correct. It reads in part:

“Please disregard the instructions contained in the referenced NETHUB message of December 31, 2007 as it is hereby cancelled. The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration has requested that TSA not take any action regarding the recent rule related to lithium batteries. It is not DOT’s intent to seek assistance from TSA in enforcing the new DOT battery rules at this time. Due to the potential impact this new rule may have on the traveling public, DOT has determined that they need time to educate the public regarding the new rules. Therefore, the TSO’s are instructed to take NO action involving lithium batteries discovered as a result of the screeining process either at the screeing checkpoint or at checked baggage screening locations.”

I’ve flown 4 domestic flights since Febuary 1 with a copy of this notice in my battery case and have had no problems so far. I’ll post here if anything changes.

    Cheers

‘You might considering trying to find a “B” stock unit instead.’
Good advice. Where do I find info on “B” stock?
