Tom, stay with the GTX 560 Ti. The AMD 7000 series cards are not used by the MainConcept encoder, if I remember correctly.

For Preview, the GTX 760 and 770 gave me a better fps than the GTX 600 series. The GTX 760 and 700 fps was the same. Dave

You will not see real difference between the GTX600 series and the GTX700 series video cards right now with Vegas Pro 12, as the Kepler cards are not fully supported for full GPU acceleration in Vegas.

I have tried the GTX 650, 660, 670, 760 and 770 and didn’t see more than a couple of seconds difference with my rendering tests between the cards.

Laura, are you on a Dell computer? They are known for having problems with the built-in firwire ports and video capture.

Either way, you might want to try a cheap firewire card from Best Buy, you can get them for $10 to $20. That has fixed the problem for me on a HP computer.

There are several different Firewire chipsets that the various motherboard manufacturer’s use. Most of the time a Firewire card will have a different chipset than what is on the motherboard. Using the Firewire card will fix it 99% of the time.

You will be fine with that system. You will need to “unlock” Adobe to allow it to use the Mercury Playback Engine in the hardware mode.
