That is kind thanks, Pat, but even if 8.6 works, I couldn’t take advantage of that without upgrading to a point where I would be retiring this little camera from this purpose anyway.

“Is it worth upgrading if a newer version gives support?”

Thanks Pat, but that’s a big “if”: The issue wasn’t on AVID support’s radar until I brought it up and it took them quite a while to come to terms with it. The little mirrorless Sony NEX6 is a consumer grade camera with an apparently idiosyncratic spanning protocol I doubt they’d work to accommodate. Moreover, the upgrade would require a new computer. (As would – disappointingly – any upgrade past the 6.0 which came with this computer from AVID.) And I don’t like to upgrade in the middle of a project.

I might try that Shane if I have to, but it’s a hassle. Resolve and MC will not run with the same display card driver on my AVID-configured workstation. Switching between them requires changing the driver back and forth. (I grade with Baselight as a plug-in.) I am hoping for another solution.

The letterboxing I’m after would be the result of downsizing the entire frame to 640 pixels wide, so if Streamclip could do that… Seems like Sorenson and Avid are formidable, I’d have thought there was a way to do it within…

I didn’t find a template in the version of Sorenson – 8.1.0.170 – which came with my MC.

I’m shooting HD,at 23.98fps. So I suppose I could do a pull-up export to adapt the frame rate on export. That might do it.

As to 640×640, my experience with AVID and any aspect ratios other than 3:4 and 16:9 has been bad (at least in terms of importing.) I’m assuming that I’ll export it as I shot it (16:9) – not sure there’s another option anyway – and use one of the 3rd party apps to letterbox it into Instagram (which works with phone video…)

Too bad choosing colour isn’t part the highlight button…

    Interesting history, thanks.

Must be frustrating to see unrealized potential but it’s an incredible time saver just as it is – well done!

Looked at a few tutorials (Didn’t discover them from the AVID site alone..)

Discovered that the take highlight colour can be changed. That’s almost everything I need to match my former workflow.

It would be great to be able to annotate nodes with visible notes indicating angle, proximity, even sketches of camera movement… I will probably do that on my hard copies. (Messy, but with different colours of highlight I can make sense of these sorts of scrawls on scripts.)

    Helpful, Michael, slick.

I’d benefit from discussion about displaying with an MC workflow the comparative value of many different takes of many script events at a glance in one window or document, or on the timeline.

I had a system for doing it on the timeline in Premiere which relied on activating and deactivating stacked clips which I ranked by colour.

ScriptSync is a great leap in most ways. I’m heading to colour coding the line nodes on prints from ScripSync. Wondering how others do this – thought you might know of a discussion somewhere. I haven’t found a good way to work on the timeline yet.

    thanks Michael.

That’s what I’ve been doing, but with multiple pages it’s a bit laborious.

I tried opening the project on a smaller screen hoping ScriptSync would scale itself down, but it didn’t.

Thanks Stig. I am hoping to avoid that, though. It will make Avid troubleshooting inefficient. May have to resort to something like that if I can’t find another solution. I wonder if there’s a way to tell Resolve to accept the Avid drivers, which would be more practical for my workflow.
