March 21, 2015 at 8:06 pmI can’t seem to export a format that Instagram can accept. At least Sorenson’s quicktime format isn’t being recognized. Any suggestions?

March 21, 2015 at 9:12 pmInstagram seems to like these specs, is that what the template is in Sorenson?
Composition Size 640 x 640
Frame Rate 29.97 frames per second
Length 14 seconds 28 frames – this gives you enough safety to keep Instagram happy…
MOV file format
H.264 codec
3,500 kbps video bitrate
AAC audio codec at 44.1 kHz monoMichael

March 21, 2015 at 9:29 pmI didn’t find a template in the version of Sorenson – 8.1.0.170 – which came with my MC.
I’m shooting HD,at 23.98fps. So I suppose I could do a pull-up export to adapt the frame rate on export. That might do it.
As to 640×640, my experience with AVID and any aspect ratios other than 3:4 and 16:9 has been bad (at least in terms of importing.) I’m assuming that I’ll export it as I shot it (16:9) – not sure there’s another option anyway – and use one of the 3rd party apps to letterbox it into Instagram (which works with phone video…)

March 21, 2015 at 9:49 pmI wonder if you made a grid in MC to make sure object of interst where in the frame, then using something like MPEG Streamclip to scale/crop to 640×640 would help?

March 21, 2015 at 9:56 pmThe letterboxing I’m after would be the result of downsizing the entire frame to 640 pixels wide, so if Streamclip could do that… Seems like Sorenson and Avid are formidable, I’d have thought there was a way to do it within…
