no other way in Encore but the way you described in your original post… timeline to menu with pic of last frame…

make sure “automatically route buttons” is unchecked, then route each video thumbnail button back onto itself(all 4 route points), and then delete any Sub picture highlight Layers that the video buttons may have, now change the number of your text buttons to #1,2,3 and route them from one to the other,change the video buttons to #4,5,6, . Just make sure that none of the routing points of the text buttons route to the video buttons.this is one workaround for it

they will be as short or as long as the video file you are using..(i think 😉 )

how do you mean by “a little skip”?, try burning to a DVD RW Disc and then check out the disc on your settop DVD player

or, you could create a small .AVI in your NLE OR AFTER EFFECTS whereby you can import the menu and then keyframe the opacity of the subpicture highlights and then add this into Encore and use it as a TRANSITION, this should give you a better idea of what i mean (https://asvideoproductions.com/doogs/Encore%202.0%20tutorials/basic/encore2%20tut002.zip)

the jump in the Encore Preview is normal, to save on discs i would suggest that you use DVD RW, as this is the cheaper option as they can be used over and over again, once you are satisfied with the project then you can commit to DVD R

No… menu colour sets can only consist of solid colours,, to use pictures then you need to use multiple menus and the auto activating feature of Encore..

Camtasia is the best path, just getting all the correct capture settings is the hard part….LOL
Glad to hear that things are progressing for you…once you get the hang of all the different ways to get the same job done then you will decide which one has the quickest workflow…

if you follow the tuts that i mentioned then all will be explained a lot clearer for you, another alternative is to create a vingetted video button on your menu (in photoshop), and then in Encore you can take this video button out of the routing equation by routing it back onto itself..and then add the 30 sec video onto this video button and just set the looping to forever (you will need a seperate audio file from the video and drop this onto the menu also, make sure it is dropped onto a blank part of the menu, not on any of the buttons)
