I tried, didn’t find any settings to change the output, just a 1080p on/off. The manual even says “correct operation can not be guaranteed on DVI monitors”.
With an HDMI (f) to DVI (m) adapter on my switchers DVI input, I alternately plugged the G10’s HDMI into the switcher and then into a TV and back. Shows up 1080i on the TV and looks nice and crisp. Then plug it to the switcher and it’s input info shows SD, the image can be scaled (stretch/fit/crop) in the switcher but looks horrible when mixed with my Sony NX5’s. The G10’s video looks great once transferred from the card and doing a multican edit though. Definitely just what I wanted for a low cost camera to be used as a static wide shot, but I have to be able to mix it live. I’m going to try one of my AJA Hi-5’s to get the G10’s signal via SDI, but if I have to buy another Hi-5 just for this camera I might as well just buy a more expensive camera that either works with my DVI input or has HD-SDI out.

No problems with the G10s recordings here. Successfully recorded to 32 gb class 10 SD cards or internal memory on 6-7 ~2 hour projects so far. L&T in FCP 7 works fine, edit native in FCPX is fine. I haven’t really looked into the in-camera audio, as I don’t use it.
I was actually pretty impressed with the quality from this little guy, i kind of just dismissed all consumer handy cams over the years, assuming they were crap but you can get a decent image with the right settings. My only problem is that the G10’s mini HDMI out will only give an SD signal to my Panasonic AW-HS50’s DVI input. And for that, I am returning the camera.

I recently bought an LG be12lu38 to supplement my old LaCie 8x. One on each of my Mac systems and consistently putting out Blu-rays. Never a problem with either burner, but the LG is faster.

I did a quick google search, it appears that only the 27″ supports input on the MDP. Although the thread on I read on apple discussions was a couple years old…

May 28, 2012 at 10:51 pm in reply to: Error Message about unavailable memory block when exporting video. Can you tell us more about your workflow on this project? What was the original source of video, editing codec, did you export “self-contained” or “send to compressor”, what is the final delivery format etc. etc?

First time I touched the Magic Mouse (at the Apple Store) I instantly knew it wasn’t for me. On the other hand I’ve been happily using the same Mighty Mouse on my main system since 2008. I have had to take it apart to clean the scroll wheel sensors once (right after I got home from trying the Magic Mouse).
Also, I really like having the Magic Trackpad available at my left hand as a supplement to the mouse (in my right). Mostly for gestures like pinch to zoom, multi-finger swipes etc.

Personally, I might duplicate the sequence in FCP 15 times, edit down each duplicate to just the portion needed and rename the sequences appropriately (of course you’ll leave the original sequence in tact). Export each one as a reference movie (self-contained unchecked), import all 15 into compressor, select all, apply the setting to all and submit. If you know that you won’t ever need to make any changes to individual speakers videos, this would probably be a waste of time though..
Just to note, as I understand it, a “Job” in compressor is the file that is imported itself, not the individual setting(s) applied to it. Many settings can be applied to a Job. When the batch is submitted, a job with multiple settings will produce a file for each setting. A batch can have multiple jobs, each job with its own settings.
In my method above you would have 15 jobs, each with one setting. In Robs method you’d have one job with 15 settings, click on each setting to mark I/O points which would be faster since you already have chapter markers which you can use as a guide to set your I/O points.

May 17, 2012 at 8:27 am in reply to: I don’t know what to call this problem- funky video?I’ve experienced a problem that sounds like what you’re describing, playback flickers just a couple still images from different parts of the timeline, repeatedly. Using Render Manager to delete the projects renders has fixed it for me.
When you deleted the render files, did you do it from FCP’s menu- Tools> Render Manager… Or delete from finder?
FWIW, I usually either wait until I’m done with the edit to apply NEAT, or apply & adjust it then turn it off while editing. Also I’ll generally avoid rendering at all until ready to export.

You could duplicate the sequence that has the cuts and lay the new clip above it on V2. Make sure they are in sync. Press the down arrow to jump to the next edit then control-V to make a cut, repeat “down, control-v” until done. Delete the old clips.
