I’ve never had a problem with long complex timelines with multiple codecs and thousands of edits. Your storage speed is the likely problem. I use a 12 channel internal Areca controller on a x8 pcie slot.

Yes! Assuming that Adobe is able to optimize the speed it will be the GOTO mezzanine codec for 4k+ under Windows…probably even if Avid announce a rez-independent version of DNx. AFAIK Cineform is the best intermediate/mastering codec out there.

All very true and if Apple weren’t so retentive about it Prores would have been in Premiere (Windows) long ago.
I could be wrong but I expect that Adobe’s growing clout in the post world, and the overall quality of Cineform, will see it increasingly being used as an acquisition codec by camera manufacturers.

Works fine natively in Premiere with a decent machine at 4k. I prefer to transcode because the long GOP makes speed viewing material not quite as butter smooth as iframe.

I do the same, keeping the render on the track above the dynamic link clip, which I usually disable. Keeping it present in the timeline provides an easy route back to the Ae comp in case of changes.

The solution to using warp stabilizer in Premiere without ballooning the project size is to dynamically link the clip to Ae and add the warp stabilizer there. That way the memory hit stays in Ae project. I usually run one parallel Ae project with just stabilized clips.

It’s a huge leap from broadcaster released and probably massaged ratings to that statement. Sorry. Don’t see it. Don’t feel it. Don’t notice it. It’s a Big Event Effect as I see it. Compare ratings for MLS and Premiership and La Liga matches shown in Canada to elsewhere or to league games in Hockey. I’m afraid that tells a more realistic tale of the existing support for pro soccer..

No need to get into a pissing match over numbers. If you believe that your viewership stats support the fact that there’s interest in the World Cup in North America I can’t disagree. That doesn’t however translate into year round interest in soccer. It’s rather interest in a Big Event. Soon to be supplanted by the next Big Event.There’s lots of reasons why I don’t believe soccer will rise to the level of other products sports in North America anytime soon. But my main argument in this thread has been that it lacks the modern review procedures of referreeing decisions that people here have come to expect… that mostly prevent the blown calls that frequently affect the results of matches. My starting this thread was provoked by precisely that happening in the marquee opening match. On the argument that soccer referreeing is woefully subject to poor calls there’s almost no disagreement. Even Sepp Blather (sic) has recently mused on allowing two video replay challenges per match. It’s gotta happen eventually though we may never live to see it.

Clearly, Timothy, you’ve been doing bad things to your brain. Bigger in Canada than hockey? That’s hilarious. Bigger than curling, well maybe, but doubtful, and if so, only because those from the rest of the world outnumber those from Scotland.

A couple of things: a) online streaming just isn’t that big here. b) you’d have to be desperate to watch a huge hockey match on a phone. c) Canada didn’t play the Netherlands because Canada has a pitiable soccer team that didn’t come close to making the World Cup. Portugal, however played the Netherlands and as there are maybe 300,000 Portugese living in Toronto, and most of them work hard for a living, maybe they’re the ones who were watching the match in droves at work on their cell phones. Akamai doesn’t breakdown streaming by ethnicity. It’s probably illegal.
