November 23, 2009 at 3:38 pm in reply to: Should I be using Motion for a time-lapse morph edit?Besides the metronome and a decision to do this with keying, this is pretty much what I suggested. Stabilization and matching the pace are critical. Too bad you only decided to see the part of my post you felt personal about.
> shoot the actor against a blue or green screen and drop him into the treadmill shot. If you must have the machine in the shot, you’ve got to go way beyond the normal stabilization and totally nail it to the floor. Study the manual for the thing carefully so you can figure out how to make the speed exactly the same for every shot. Mark the edges of the platform so you can establish a constant stride length. < bogiesan

November 22, 2009 at 7:25 pm in reply to: Why does final cut pro ONLY launch when compressor and qmaster are UNINSTALLED?> Good day all, I have been having a problem with FCP ever since version 6 that I have found out the hard way, that its hasn’t been fixed in FCP7. The problem is, that FCP will NOT run unless qmaster/compressor is uninstalled. FCP will crash around when it does its RT profiling. < As we noted on the apple forum, it's probably a hardware or OS issue since the problem remained after updating the application. That is a binary result of an application rewrite. You are confusing a likely hardware issue, isolated to yours and those of a few other unfortunates, with a bug in the Final Cut Studio applications. > so this is the only place left for me to go, to hopefully find a solution to this before my hairline recedes anymore and I dont lose anymore clients. < Not so. There are dozens of FCP forums. Apple's and the Cow are just the best places to look first. > Has anyone found a fix to this? the apple forums have not been helpful at all, as nobody even wants to acknowledge the problem is there, mean while as you see from the posts, I am not the only one. … only to be told by someone with 20,000 posts, that the problem was unheard of and they have never seen it before… well, funny. the only fix I found was about 5 months on the very same apple forums< Let's see, that reference could be to any of several of the more prolific, experienced, knowledgable, patient, kind, and cool FCP people who hang out on most of the FCP forums in the English speaking world. If we ever get it figured out, whatever IT is, it will be as a result of discourse with people like you. Hopefully you will post your solution, when you find one, so others in your situation will not suffer as long as we have. bogiesan

Your effect should be faked with makeup and costumes. Trying to do this by compressing real time is a dangerously uncontrollable situation. It’s performance art, maybe, but you’d never be able to use it sell a product.
Let’s go one more step. How much fat do you think you can lose in three months? How much muscle do you think you can gain? If you change your nutritional practices dramatically, you should only lose about a pound of body fat in a week. More than that can be dangerous. Muscle weighs more than fat but gains in muscle mass are only made with recovery diets, not weight loss diets. and running is only one facet of muscle mass manipulation. If you weight 250 pounds at this moment, at the ned of three months you can weigh about 220. If you are able to pay a trainer to keep you focused and a dietitian to monitor your caloric input, you can probably get that to 195-210 but that is a full time job for you and the other two humans.
Sorry, umm, got off on a rant there.

I have only attempted to output stereoscopic movies from AE once.
I created a stereo camera rig that emulated a realworld stereo rig: left and right cameras hard-parented to a null. I moved the null through the scene and ran two renders. The interocular was adjustable but I left it alone. The scene was only about ten seconds and had several 3D layers for the camera rig to fly past. Flat lighting to keep it simple.
I brought the two movies back into AE and used the anaglyph filter for post processing. Holding reddish and blueish lighting gels over my glasses was interesting and it convinced me stereoscopic filmmaking was something I would gladly to leave to others.bogiesan

You can use any of several products and freebies that will trash your prefs on request but I think your expectations are incorrect. Trashing the prefs will cause more problems than solve. The important thing is to learn how the application is supposed to work and conform to those methods. if the prefs are trashed each time, all of the options must be reset each time.

Not really what you asked for but this will give you some clues about using some similar techniques/filters, basically get you started on an exploration of AE.

Welcome to the family.
There are few things you are probably doing wrong on your very first project but it’s impossible to know from here. The more common cause is not having write access to the particular folder you are using to store the project and that can be caused by network or Finder problems, not related at all to FCP.This error is regrettable but it is predictable for first-timers. I would have taken a bit of offline time and practiced first.

This topic comes up often so you can search here and the entire Internet for help.
You must know what your playback system is going to be. If you hare handing this off to a digital signage system, you must talk to the experts who handle the programming.bogiesan

November 19, 2009 at 3:58 pm in reply to: Exporting and rendering in HD from premier and to adobe[Luke Haer] “I’m making a video using wide screen high definition. I need to put the video together in Adobe Premier, then export it and edit that video in Adobe After Effects. I’d like to keep the video in HD wide screen. What setting should I use in Premier and After Effects to keep it HD wide screen and also not have massive file size?”
You don’t want to edit in AE. You want to build your effects in AE and take those back to Premiere.
You can maintain your precise codec and pixel and color space specifications by simply making sure they are the same in both applications. If you are using the embedding features of Premiere, that’s handled for you automatically. See the manual.
A small file size is not possible with HD if you expect to maintain the H and the D in HD. File size is a tradeoff of frame size, frame rate, image quality, and your willingness to accept the compromises. Those decisions are often made by deciding what your distribution media is going to be and then working backwards.Compression is a dark art and those inquiries are handled in the compression forums. I don’t know what compression application came with your version of CS3 or what application your will use. bogiesan

Now we’re getting someplace, buddy, welcome to the family.
Twixtor is a possibility but it’s just another expensive hack in terms of post processing.
Cheaper and more efficient to get a different video camera than to keep trying to hack this in post.
You UAV has mass/payload limitations and I suppose you have bandwidth issues for your control channels.
I am not familiar with the state of the craft in aerial platforms and image stability options. My company has entertained several vendors hawking an array of remote controlled flying objects designed for river and riparian zone surveys. We have the NIFC here in Boise and I attended a demo of one of their aerial photo platforms. Pretty cool, big helicopter, but I would call it “big iron” and I’m sure they’ve replaced it with more current technologies.
Aerial photography and UAV are huge markets. There must be a BUNCH of forums devoted to the special needs for both hobbyists and professionals.
