You want particles that are vectors or you want a movie that can be used as a particle that follows a vector path?

Drop by Adobe.com and research this. there may be some issues opening your legacy projects and some of your third party filters must be replaced or updated. Your new graphics card will have different OpenGL settings and capabilities that you must get used to.

All I did was install the disks on my Intels.

You can’t. AE is not a playback system.
Are you asking how you would use AE to create stuff that will shown on three projectors? That’s easily researched here and via google, look for multiscreen playback or multiscreen compositions.

Basically, you build a master sequence that contains three precomps, one for each screen, that includes carefully calculated overlaps or physical separations for the actual projected images.

I don’t know that camera but MPEG2 for DVD is only 400-500 horizontal lines. If you are shooting and of several 16×9 formats that have more horizontal resolution than MPEG2, you must scale it to fit the video window. You end up throwing away a huge amount of detail. that is, if your format has 1000 lines, you’re reducing it to about 300 lines and applying letterbox mattes. That’s a 60% reduction detail.

You must determine whether it is caused by the cable, the camera, or the FW port on either end of the pipe.
Then you can start looking at software.

Looking back over my history of buying Macintoshes, we missed every new technology by a few months. Even our Intels are mere first generation dualies.

Th is is most often a user error. You must view field interlaced material on an interlaced monitor.

but “choppy” doesn’t really help us much. You mean it skips frames, the letter jump around, or the motion just isn’t smooth?

August 25, 2008 at 5:09 pm in reply to: Problem with still images in DVD with FCP output

How are you viewing the DVD?
You should be watching on your target device, either a computer or a desktop/TV set. The displays are different, a computer is frames, the TV is fields. MPEG2 is always fields which means it can display oddly on a computer. Your still images are probably field rendered.
Umm, it’s all quite confusing. See the DVDSP manual for lots of information on how to set up your projects for exclusive playback on computers. Prepare for several hours of patient reading and index searching.

August 25, 2008 at 3:00 pm in reply to: Motion and new iMacs

You can search here for tons of iMac questions, we see the question way too often.

The imac offers you no expansion capabilities. Forget it for digital video and motion graphics unless you are prepared to accept the possibility that when the new rev of FCS ships, you may or may not be able to take advantage of hooks into new GPU technologies. However, the next OS may simply move more and more image core processing to the OS and eliminate the question completely. No one knows.

It’s your money but the expansion of the desktop units is the crucial factor for me.
