Good idea Jason. I think I will get a 3 meter TB cable. That will put the raid on the other side of a wall. Seems like I can only find the 1,2,& 3 meter lengths. Then they jump up to 10 meters but cost over $300.00.

Yes, the BM SmartScope looks like a nice addition and I will check with BM to be sure it works with my proposed setup. Thanks again for your input.

I got info from Promise tech support concerning the noise level of their Pegasus2 R8. Here it is –

    The Pegasus2 is very quiet.

    Pegasus2 R4, Pegasus2 R6 and Pegasus2 R8 share the same noise level characteristics.

    Test Conditions:
    Bandwidth: 100Hz~20KHz
    Environmental correction K2A=-0.1dB
    Measurement duration: 30 seconds
The acoustic noise test condition refers to ISO 7779(SPL)

    Results:
Idle mode: Less than 27 dB
Operation mode: Less than 32 dB

    All good suggestions, thank-you.
The new equipment will replace the existing set-up.
    I have a rack & UPS.
I think I will add the BMD SmartScope, good idea.
Hopefully Adobe SpeedGrade will send the signal to the scope without issue.
Cable length is a big factor.
Do I spend the money for a long ThunderBolt cable and move the Promise Raid to a rack shelf(in another room) or is this Raid quiet enough to be in my edit room near the MACpro? Guess I should ask Promise.
Thanks again for your input Matt.

I believe it is the rolling shutter issue with CMOS sensors

Good info to have in clip names, although all that info can be found in XDCAM Transfer and/or Clip Browser (by camera serial number). You could then use the naming convention for other info.

When my footage is imported into FCP the clip names could start with OHar or LaGu for Chicago O’Hare or LaGuardia airports.

If the LCD was swung all the way open and you can still see an image in the eye-piece then it could very well be that switch.

Nick, get a mobile hard drive and copy the files yourself and then you will have them.
Keep one copy on the mobile drive and one copy on your system, then you’ll have two copies for yourself. Who knows what your professor might do with the original BPAV folders in the future.
And if the professor is compelled to delete the originals because you have made copies I would at least want to make sure the footage plays in your system before he does so, and better yet it might be best to keep them on that drive as well.
With clip browser you can have CRC enabled (in the preferences) to make sure the copies are verified
Also BPAV is a folder not a file extension as you wrote (.BPAV)
And it is a God almighty folder that should stay intact.

Can you get a hold of the Camera original BPAV folders?
I believe that Sony Vegas should handle the files natively,
or use clip browser to transfer to mxf for Vegas.

What about using After Effects to down convert?
Que them up and set it off at night.
Also why letter box and not Wide screen SD?

Not sure if this would help your situation but you could also view your EX footage using ClipBrowser and export the clips out has MXF among many different formats.
