In the EDIT page, once you have inserted your video clip in your timeline, OPTION-select (Mac) the audio tracks you want to remove, then hit DELETE key.

You could also create a compound audio clip to build your ambiance sounds and drop it in one track. I would work in Fairlight to make things easier.

Which video file format is it? have you noticed the issue with other file format?
Could it be an issue with the audio tracks configuration in PrP?
Which versions of PrP and DR are you using?David Baud

[Gates Bradley] “I’m importing timelines via XML into Resolve. “
it might be helpful if you explain how you created your XML file in the first place (which application does it come from?)
[Gates Bradley] “so I have to manually change each clip”
in the Media page, have you tried to select all the clips that you want to change the audio settings for and then select Clip attributes, Audio tab and make your change?

Please see Davinci Resolve Reference Manual – March 2020 – page 407
In the MEDIA page, you can select the folder containing your media structure, right-click and select “add folders and subfolders in media pool”. This will import directly all your MXF files from your Sony cameras that are bury deep down the folder structure.

I agree with Marc… between the free training resources provided by BMD and the very detailed Resolve Reference Manual, you should be able to find your answer for the best workflow that works for your project.

I seem to recall that in some version of Resolve the shortcut key for copy & paste did not work correctly for items in a bin (timeline & media)… I could be wrong.
In any case you can use copy & paste from the EDIT menu, and it works for timeline as well

Yes it is correct… BMD re-introduces this feature in Resolve version16.x
If using version 15, you are left with the usual suspects: copy & paste for your timeline

It is hard to tell not knowing your system. What is the speed of your I/O drives? dedicated RAID array for your media? where do you keep your cache memory?
If your crashes happen with a particular file format, I would definitely run a test with “easy footage” for your system (not power intensive in coding/decoding)… like intra-frame codecs (ProRes, DNxHD, Cineform, etc…) This will allow you to tell if there is a direct correlation…
Regarding your question about proxy footage, it depends what is your project like and your goal. If you are editing, it could be a solution, especially with a lot of media. If you are color grading, you want to work with the best quality footage you can get, with as little transcoding as possible in order to minimized any artifacts.
With Resolve, you actually have different ways to manage working with “a slower system”: using the optimized media features, allow you to create new footage that will be easier to work with. It allows you to decide which file format/codec to use. Another way would be to use the cache render feature in order to play footage that otherwise could not be played real time.

If you are using Adobe Acrobat for your search, select ADVANCED SEARCH from the edit menu.
Then if you search for “copy timeline” it will return page 3322 of the March 2020 Reference Manual.
In Resolve terminology, I think you want to look for “timeline duplicate” which you can do from the MEDIA and EDIT pages by selecting the timeline and using the local popup menu.
