I’m editing a project now in Resolve 16.2.3 and have a lot of Sony MXF files shot on an EX1 & EX3. The media is in folders that are essentially clones of the SxS camera cards on a hard drive, duplicating the file folder structure of the cards exactly. When I navigate to one of these folders in the media tab or import dialog in the edit tab I would expect Resolve to recognize and load the clips and show a preview immediately as Premiere Pro or FCP7 would. Right now I have to manually follow the folder structure down to find the mp4 media files before I can see the clips and import. Am I doing something wrong, haven’t set a preference, or is this just the way it is in Resolve?

    Thanks,

    Russ

Please see Davinci Resolve Reference Manual – March 2020 – page 407

In the MEDIA page, you can select the folder containing your media structure, right-click and select “add folders and subfolders in media pool”. This will import directly all your MXF files from your Sony cameras that are bury deep down the folder structure.

    Thanks, David.
Maybe that will work for my Canon-recorded cards too.
Always try the old right-click to see what happens.
    Best,
    Robert
