I do not think that the JVC HDV codec has been implemented into FCP5.0 yet. I know that the codec is different from the SONY HDV codec, The sony deck does not play beck the JVC format and vice versa (so much for having one format?)
So I think that you are actually trying to do somethign that is not possible.
Maybe you could create a capture preset that matches the frame size of the JVC HD as it is recorded on the tape. I am pretty sure it is a 720P HDV format.

FYIW. I have created a setting with the blacks raised compared to the factory defaults. I also shoot withthe 7.5 setup on. This let’s me, put back the blacks when I color correct. Its. like the whites, if they are blown out your messed. I always leave myself room to “see” into the blacks. Out of teh camera it looks washed out, but with good color correction, it looks awesome.David

I am with Walt on this one. I went with protected, fast fiber channel storage. I have nothing against SATA but the HUGE 4210 has been a nice product for me. It is peace of mind more than anything. This is the second unit from them and they have earned my loyalty, much in the same way Walter is loyal to medea (for very good reasons).

The JVC is an excellent choice if you can’t get your hands on a SONY and it actually has about 100 more lines of resolution and accepts any mode/format the KONA 2 can throw at it.

I am a bit confused. Are you actually offering help or am I missing something here.
I just asked for a bit of clarity and some more detail on you initial response and this feels like it is turning into a riddle.
Have I done something wrong in asking for more os an answer?
