Bluring beyond frame size

Hi there.

I have a file I brought in as photoshop layers.

Problem.

If I want to blur something out, FCP is limiting the blur to the Box size of the layer. Is there a way to trcking it into thinking the layer size is larger. The file was all lined up in photoshop. Should I make it all large and then line it up in FCP or fill thelayers of the photoshop files with a color to trick the frame size.

maybe an alpha thing I can do?

Place Four “dots” in each corner of the raster for the blurred layer. Reduce the Opacity to Zero. This will force the layer to blur to the edges.

I think I am partially getting this. Do I create the dots in Photshop or FCP. I need just a bit more explaination.

Just Nest the layer in FCP. This will turn the layer into the frame size of your comp.

I am a bit confused. Are you actually offering help or am I missing something here.

I just asked for a bit of clarity and some more detail on you initial response and this feels like it is turning into a riddle.

Have I done something wrong in asking for more os an answer?

I have msiread these posts. Walters method works well, but I still dis not fully comprehend the workflow you offered up. 🙂

No trouble old chum.
The four dots can be made with the paint brush.
Place them in the four corners of the layer.
This extends the border of the layer to the edges of the screen.
