    Thanks Fahd & Dave.

It was a little trickier than I thought, but got it to work.

    1. I created a shape layer and traced the path of my “pipe”.

    2. I created an adjustment layer and added the bulge effect.

3.I added a Null Object layer and copied the shape layer & pasted it into the null position.

    4. Added an expression to the bulge effect and pickwhipped it to the null’s postion.

Works great. Maybe an easier way, but this worked for me. Thanks again.

That gives me an excellent starting point. I tried compositing that with a solid fractal noise layer using the same animated mask and I think it’s about there. Thanks, Michael!

Thanks very much, Darby & Todd. This helps get me past this hurdle. I’m ordering a new edition of Meyer’s book today.

Oops. Thanks, Todd. I should’ve mentioned I’m using CS5 and the book covers AE 6.5. Has this funtionality changed since then?

Thanks so much, Adam! I animated visibility with a display tag on the figures rather than using position keyframes, so they’d appear randomly. Works great!

    Hi Lennart,
I went to your site to download the SteadyQTVR setup and it looks like it’s no longer there. I’m running C4D R11. It’s still compatible with that version, isn’t it? Is there some other reason it’s not posted? I could definitely use it for an upcoming project. Thanks very much!
