Anyone had to replace a Sennheiser M2 ? My wires got frayed – is it worth $140 for a new mic ?

I know a lot has been said about HD not being that great in low light(but getting better with newer models), and have heard it said that the Sony’s seeming have been rumored as being somewhat better in low light (I forget which model) – but I got a Canon A1 (not the A1s) ($2900 – B&H) – and I was really amazed at how well it did in low light – much better than I thought based on what I had read about HD cameras. So I think you really got to get one in your hands and judge it yourself – although I am sure there must be some comparisons displayed somewhere out there in ciber space.

  • Thanks for those comments. I totally get and agree with the work flow advantage (although I think tape could be the better storage/backup route, especially since I have been on the hard drive gone bad wagon a couple of times). It’s good to hear you have used both and feel the way you do. I have a pana dvc80 and dvc30, so I like the layout of the 150. Hope it can use the same batteries.

I also have a canon HV20 – and a couple good friends with the A1 – and it’s their report back to me about the quality of the A1 footage that helps rank it up there – plus I like the 20x zoom over the 14 on the 150.

It’s hard to get your hands on a 150 loaner in Denver from a dealer yet Thanks for your input – it helps.

  • Thanks for the response

One question – when you say “…imho this camera totally blows the A1 away.” – what do you mean by blows it away ? I have a friend with an A1 who says he has never seen a better picture regarding sharpness and colors. His opinion of course – and I take it you have seen output from an A1 or used an A1 – so could you expand a bit on exactly why you think the 150 is that much better over a A1 ?

    Thanks..

To be clearer, what I want to accomplish is to delete the previous event from the cursor since I just made a split. and I want to do it from the keyboard, so I guess it’s time to either learn how to create a script or how to find one that does what I want it to do.

I am new to Vegas. One way I love to edit a long clip (another editor) is to place the long clip on the timeline, play it till I get to an area I like, split the event, ripple delete the prior section (that I didn’t want) continue tp play the timeline till I got to the end of that good section, split it again, then play till I found a new area I wanted, split it again and ripple delete the previous event – and continue on till I had all the good events one after another (with all the useless events deleted out).

I would do this using just the keyboard – and it was a very fast edit – an S(Split), spacebar to play, another S, a keystroke to delete the previous event with a ripple delete, spacebar to play (etc., etc.) to the end of the clip – and I had all my cuts.

I don’t want to switch back and forth between keyboard and mouse – I want to do it all from the keyboard.

What is the best way to accomplish this in Vegas ?

  • Ok – I will answer my own post just in case someone else happens to wonder about this. After adding the script to the proper folder, you have to close and restart Vegas so that it becomes available in the keyboard shortcut assignment panel.

  • How do you “bound” (or bind) a script to a shortcut key ? I could not find that in the help menu.
