The next release is already in beta (and we’d love to have a few more volunteers for beta testers) so the “train has already left the station” in terms of functionality and these suggestions in the near future, but now is actually a great time for requests because we are planning the next cool update.

Can you give more details about the error? Is it when something is being rendered, or in the export itself? What are your settings for export to QuickTime? Would export self-contained work for you?

I think “Log and transfer” may not be the same thing as “Sony XDCAM Transfer” which can be found here

I don’t know for sure but it seems unlikely that they’d bundle a video codec with an audio package.

If you capture, import and render with ProRes then your self-contained export will be ProRes. Unfortunately Apple only includes the ProRes compressor with Final Cut so you might not have it.

The AJA hardware can’t output 720p23.98 so that’s why you don’t see anything. We could maybe get it to cross-convert to a different standard but the issue hasn’t come up much.

Programs have always had a 12 hour limit, but I have a hard time imagining someone really needing a longer duration. You can set the program start time too.

Just select “New Program…” and you can choose any supported media standard.

Or, set your video input hardware to None and all the supported media standards will be enabled in the video input preferences.

What is your destination deliverable? (A tape or a QuickTime movie)

v1.7.1 is now available and it corrects the problem for both options.

Ok. Did you take the survey?

Your renders are CPU-bound on that system, so more memory won’t help. We’ve never thought about supporting a render farm because there hasn’t been any call for it. A new MacBook Pro with an i7 processor would help you but it’s not cheap.
