There should have been more realtime added to this version and I don’t mean RT. The biggest complaint I get from clients is rendering time. I don’t see anything about FCP7 using multiple processors.

[Richard Dee] “I am now thinking of upgrading to the the Nehalem machine with 6 gigs ram ans the ATI graphics card, but of course it only runs Leopard. “
You should read this article from Apple before you use 6 gigs of ram.

I use the internal slots with 3 drives striped raid 0 and get around 200mb per second. We edit EXCAM HD & EX footage with the AJA Lhe and it works fine. You won’t get a lot of realtime once you start adding layers, effects and Motion files but it will playback EX files just fine.

We ended up doing the same thing. Hooking up the M100 to our AJA box and capturing the footage. P6000 card.

We have a Kona Lhe and do the same as Walter does. Card connected to a mixer that allows us to hear it all. If you are doing pro projects you should have a card and a mixer Ivars.

I would only buy an AJA card. I have two AJA IO’s and an AJA Lhe. I have never used the black magic cards, they may be fine. But AJA is there when you need them. If you have a problem with an AJA product it will be taken care of period. They are the best in my opinion and personal experience.

The Kona card doesn’t care what the codec is, it will down covert and put it to tape. Find another house that will do what you want, not what they want.
