Actually, it worked out for the better. Rather than an ugly split screen, I’ve decided to do the slide as a 1/4 screen inset over the fullscreen video.
This is both simpler to do and will look more elegant.

I tried to follow the tutorial. I couldn’t figure it out. None of the controls make sense. Every time I try to move a point, I get a spline.
You can’t just read the xy numbers to match them up because the numbers don’t appear until you’ve placed the point, at which point it’s too late to move.

Sorry, sloppy terminology. I recorded directly to mini-DVD using an old camcorder.

When I rename the files to MPEG, they come in at only a few seconds long. I think there is a problem in the frame data or metadata.
I have a file that’s 1GB in size and, as a VOB, it plays for 30+ minutes in the default Windows Live Movie Maker as well as in SV.
But if I rename it to MPEG, it only plays for 20s, even if I pull it into SV.
OMG, I knew when I was asked to tape the conference (and again while taping) that this would be a lot of post work, but it’s now been 3 weeks and I have yet to burn a single talk…

Can’t do this. Refuses to recognize them if they are not pulled directly from the disc. This is infuriating since I had already laboriously copied all the video I needed onto my HD in prep for using them. SV won’t even recognize them; the folder reads as empty.

I don’t think this will work. Unless I am misunderstanding, renaming them to MPG will mean I lose the audio track. But I’ll try it.

What will track motion accomplish? It sure soinds like something that would be helpful. Sometomes the speakers are all over the stage, which is gonig to make it very difficult when I reduced the video to half-screen.
