I am stringing clips from different discs together to make one movie on the entire speech. To do this, I’m adding each subsequent clip to alternating A & B channels so that I can take a quick dissolve between them. (I need to do this, right? I need two channels so I can dissolve between them, right?)

Do I just leave them in their two channels thoughout? When I do my panning, cropping and split screen effects on the entire video, will they act on the entire sequence? Or do I squash my AB rolls back into one channel so I can act on them in one fell swoop?

I’m confused by your terminology. Vegas uses tracks not channels. Are you placing your media on two separate tracks? or have you expanded one track to reveal the A/B track layers and transition layer like this?

If you are placing events on alternating tracks just to make dissolves then you can stop doing that. You only need one track. Just move one event over the end of another and it will automatically dissolve.

    Tracks, yes.

    Auto-dissolve. Thanks.
