Standards are driving part if CatDV 11 – global metadata fields in CatDV plus our recent tutorial on writing metadata back to source media (using xiftool) all give CatDV the capability as standards evolve

Hi, we’re pretty excited about our new versions. There’s an overview of CatDV and Pegasus 11 on our web site …

Some highlights include 64 bit, native support for more formats (including AVCHD and Red), better support for large installs (global metadata), some trickle down of Pegasus functionality to CatDV, use of colored filters to highlight clips and for Pegasus 11 more audit and reporting.

We expect to go into beta testing next month, and depending on feedback produce a production release later in the year.

I hope this helps and thanks for your interest in CatDV !

Hi, generally CatDV has a policy of not writing back to source media, so there is no chance we can damage original footage.

However CatDV’s Worker can write metadata back into source files using a workflow with the excellent exiftool.

We have a tutorial on how to do it here ….

January 2, 2014 at 10:35 am in reply to: Locating lo res library references.

Hi Bruce, each asset in the CatDV database has a “media path” and “proxy file” that shows the location of the media and a lo res version.

If you right click on an asset then you should have the options to “reveal in finder” or “reveal proxy in finder” too

    Hope that helps

You can also try CatDV Pegasus with 2 way metadata transfer between CatDV and Media Composer.
