Did you try to monitor the audio using headphones during recording with the V770? If so, what did it sound like? Quiet? Good?

Rick – Did you adjust the auto gain control at all?

How was the audio inputted on the V770 – built-in mic or auxiliary mic?

I have no such problems on my V770, didn’t want this thread to dissuade future owners. I honestly believe the problem here to be user error. The V770 has a headphone monitoring jack, a mic input jack, as well as customizable audio settings (zoom, auto gain control etc). I do not believe OP read the manual or explored the best settings.

  • I picked up a like-new Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 for a bit under $200 I think, so far pretty happy with versatility, creative options, and image quality.

I do also have the 50mm STM and it’s tough to beat for the price.

You didn’t mention which 18-55 kit you had. I believe consensus is the very old 18-55mm non-is was not very sharp. 18-55mm IS is not bad, and I hear the new 18-55mm STM is much improved.

Lens adapters for m4/3 or Sony will run you over $200 if you want to use autofocus or control the aperture. The “dumb adapters” sell for under $30 but you will have no aperture control at all on lenses for Canon EF mount.

Canon EOS M (1, 2, 3, or M10) bodies will autofocus with most of your lenses if you buy the $40 adapter.

If no editing is required, why not render/export the whole sequence into a single MP4. In Adobe Premiere Elements, I’d just drag and drop all of the files onto a single timeline with no gaps.
