    That obviously helps!

But just seeing if there is any ‘standard’ way to do it. Always worried that taking an uneducated guess will come back to bite me down the line ie: when you convert it for dvd etc etc etc

    Cheers, Darrin

I have used in the past:

    https://visibleearth.nasa.gov/
    Copyright free satellite maps.

Photoshop – scan in the best maps you can find, then trace the outlines on another layer in photoshop. Likewise for the nasa maps…

“I would be shocked if LiveType didn’t ship with at least one set of dingbat fonts, nevertheless, you can get a CD with 1,000 truetype fonts for under 20 bucks at most any office supply store or Walmart on your way home tonight, for sure a heart shape will be in there somewhere. Import it into LiveType. ”

Cheers, (though no way I would buy anything from walmart 😉

Doesn’t seem Livetype does have them. Looks like I will have a bash in photoshop….

B>[Darrin J] “Where do I find the dingbats?”

    Dingbats are sets of FONTS

I know, but I can’t find them in Livetype (bar 3 wingdings)

OK, I had a quick look in LiveType but it all seemed to be about Text. Where do I find the dingbats? I’ve only created a few short text headings in LivetType before

( I had a friend whip up a song titled “Porno Star’ so I have good music – lots of grunts 😉

I use a program call Little Snitch that will block all outbound traffic unless you say it is ok. Very handy to see what is trying to talk with whom.

Also, if your using p2p stuff then use limewire.com – no nasties within the package it seems (I have 10 years in IT security and 10 months of FCP so this post may be the only one that anybody can every trust me on 😉

    Yip, add a ‘flicker filter’.

Highlight the clips in the timeline, then go EFFECTS / VIDEO FILTERS / VIDEO and chose Flicker Filter. I think deinterlace also works, but hopefully somebody more knowledgable than I pop’s along soon to verify that (or the difference between)

Also check the images are the correct size. See Ken Stone’s site for loads of good tutorials:

It imports it as a sequence – have to open the sequence, copy the file and then it will respond to duration requests etc.

    Thank you to myself!

I use it alot on my powerbook when travelling. It’s an extremely handy feature, great for anytime you would have a problem with disk space in full res (carrying firewire drives around in the sahara isn’t that practical)

Use it to rough edit in, leaving in shots that your not sure about, and then uprez. Ken Stones site has loads of useful stuff on it:
