  • I’m on windows, never exported as ProRes before. Do I need Quicktime PRo for that? I can’t find the export preset. Sorry, but I don’t work with standard definition much and have never run into this.
I was following this example: https://wikis.utexas.edu/display/comm/Adobe+Premiere+Pro+-+Apple+ProRes+Export+Workflow
to try to export as ProRes but couldn’t find the “Apple ProRes 422” video codec. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Very true. I should have poked around in the existing presets a bit more. Obviously there are no 720p 30fps presets because no cameras can shoot that. Should have realized that.
I just used Digital SLR 24p and changed the settings to the correct frame rate which seems to have made the correct sequence.
    Thanks for your input Jeff.

  • Ok thanks. I created a custom sequence and also created a new sequence preset for 720p at 29.97fps. I just didn’t realize there was no 720p 30fps or 29.97fps DSLR sequence option or preset.
The 1080p footage seems to be playing fine in the 720p 29.97fps sequence I created so I think I’ve accomplished my goal. I will obviously export and have a close look, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something.
    Anyone else done this frequently?

I definitely think the i7-3930 cpu would be fastest, I’m just not sure if I would get close or satisfactory performance from Xeon if other benefits like EEC memory, low power consumption, reliability would make up for it. People have made me scared of “clones” but ADK for instance seem like they have alot of expertise.
I might be able to do six or eight Xeon cores but then it starts to depend on the the type of Xeon model.

    My choices from Dell were:

    Pretty much out of budget unless spectacular: 2 x E52687 : 3.1GHz with 20MB Cache, 8 core.

    Cheapest, closest to my budget: 1 x E52687 : 3.1GHz with 20MB Cache, 8 core.
    —————————
    Getting out of budget: Dual 6-core: $6500. 2 x E52667: 2.9Ghz, 15MB.

Haven’t looked into i7’s as much except on ADK’s website, can put some of that money into other areas but stability and reliability is important as well.

That’s kind of what I’ve been hearing. Thanks
