Which AE plug do you have?
There’s a ‘new’ public beta here that might help:
https://maxon.net/pages/download/download_plugins_e.htmlAnd, this may or may not help:

I would definately go straight through Flash. In my experience AE’s Flash export options result in much larger file sizes.
As for the Flash version, you might think about an XML driven slideshow where Flash ‘imports’ an XML file from the server and then imports each image in the show as it needs it. This way the show starts before all images are loaded. Quicker overall.
Not sure about anything related on the Flash COW but you will definately find a tute over here:

and here:

Sort through the tutes and posts and you’ll find transition options too. -
I totally agree regarding the Meyers’ books.
That said I would definately buy the Total Training DVD’s if you have the cash. -

Ciao Renato,
If you’re the Renato that makes C4d plug-ins you’ll be happy to know I just bought three of them!If you’re not Renato Tarabella then ignore the above. 🙂
As for Powerbook internal drives, I use Final Cut and AE on a 12″ Powerbook G4.
I capture just fine using the internal drive.
While I usually offload the captures to an external FW 7200 drive and use that for my clips I have also on occasion left the clips on the internal. Either way I have never had dropped frames. -
Assuming you own Flash MX2004 get Sorenson Squeeze.
Then follow the tutes here:
https://www.creativecow.net/show.php?forumid=1&page=/articles/brimelow_lee/video_basics_1/index.htmlYou’ll use Squeeze to compress the QT, outputted from C4d, into an SWF.
The tutes will show you how to make a Flash based player to progressively download and play the movie.I don’t know about Flash 8.

While I’m in a similar situation as you (but in Mpls, not LA) I’ve asked this question on a lot of forums.
The bottom line is that I think there’s no standard for 3d. It seems to come down to whatever you’re using at the moment is THE best.
Here’s the general conclusions I’ve collated from my forum post questions.
Maya is overkill unless you move to film work.
Cinema 4d has a great connection to AE but C4d. There are studios who use it but it’s not ‘the’ standard. This is the one I chose however.
XSI is used by quite a few on PC’s (no Mac version). Had they a Mac version I probably would have gone with this. Now that I use C4d I’m glad I didn’t have that PC.
3DS Max is also right up there with XSI (probably higher) but again, no Mac version.
To end, I’ve also been told many times that if you learn one really well you ought to be able to switch fairly easily if necessary.
Good luck and if there’s really a definative answer I hope someone who has it posts as I’d like to know too. 🙂
