  • Building a SWF montage. Use AE or Flash?

So I’m building this montage of about 15 photographs that merge from one to the next in a variety of ways. Creating a Flash intro, with music basically. Are there any advantages or disadvantages (mainly file size I’m interested in) to designing this montage in After Effects where I’m much more comfortable working instead of using Flash?

    TIA

I would definately go straight through Flash. In my experience AE’s Flash export options result in much larger file sizes.

As for the Flash version, you might think about an XML driven slideshow where Flash ‘imports’ an XML file from the server and then imports each image in the show as it needs it. This way the show starts before all images are loaded. Quicker overall.

Not sure about anything related on the Flash COW but you will definately find a tute over here:

    and here:

Sort through the tutes and posts and you’ll find transition options too.
