And now, when I render the timeline I’m also getting a horizontally squeezed image on playback!

Hi Joshua, thanks for the reply.
Currently, the majority of the workflow is H264 based, but I’ve had the same issue with ProRes 422/HQ (The only 2 formats I’ve worked with since moving to CS6).
The sequences are Premiere DSLR, not BMD (the advice was to use these as BMD Presets were no longer needed in CS6 with Mercury Transmit). Always 25P, sometimes 1080P, sometimes 720P.
I get playback in 1080P fine (with mentioned audio issues), but nothing in 720P.
Can I ask which are the optimum settings for the card with this workflow? I’ve currently got video standard set to ‘HD 1080p 25’/’Use 1080p not 1080PsF’.

Hi Matt, thanks for replying.
You’re right, in my instance I’m using the built-in audio for output, and BM for monitor… could this be the problem?
To clarify, if I have the program monitor on the GUI side, and output to the HD as well, side by side the HD monitor is a couple of frames behind.
Even with program monitor closed the problem is the same.
Furthermore, sometimes it gets worse and the lag builds up, other times it’s a bit less…

Hmm no I’ll give that a go… it’s occurring on multiple projects, and I’ve tried both PPro 5.04 and 5.5.2
Very frustrating!

Hmm no unfortunately that didn’t do anything.
Pretty sure there isn’t a workaround, sorry for anyone in the same situation (unlikely).
Thanks for your help.

Fantastic, thanks for the help, will give it a go.

Hi Anders,
Thanks for that; it’s an interesting solution to the problem; ie. setting different layers’ distance from each other via scipted multiples of the position parameters…
If there isn’t an easier solution, that’s prob a good way to do it.
To clarify further; at the moment it is a 2D comp, with Position/Rotation/Scale adjustments applied to single still images.
If I convert that still image into 3D, and break it up into seperate layers, each at a different distance from the camera, the position and rotation parameters will move all the layers in unison in front of it, thus not showing depth.
If it was the camera moving instead of the position of the layer, it would reveal depth, so wondered if there was a way to translate them across in an elegant way.
A few possibilities are springing to mind now with expressions, but any feedback is much appreciated.

Some great ideas, thankyou Petros.
Will certainly look into all options.
(The new lacie Thunderbolt drive actually has dual TB ports, whether that would allow 2 laptops connected I’m not so sure – https://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10549).
I’ll let everyone know what works/doesn’t. If anyone has other ideas let me know!

June 28, 2011 at 5:21 pm in reply to: A couple of issues re. Premiere keyframe/blending roundtripHindsight is a wonderful thing, at the time it was better for rendering reasons; it’s a 20 min 5Kx5K sequence time-remapped and motion/scale controlled, so I needed it in real-time, and Premiere’s RT was much better, but the curves are so specific re-doing the beziers in AE isn’t an option…
With regards to re-importing, this isn’t possible as there’s blending modes that relate to a background plate, and neither TIF or Dynamic Link can keep that information.
