  • Well if the speed and blur can be achieved in a smarter way then I wouldn’t need those 9 layers at all, I would just use one since they’re all identical.

At this point my project is done except for this one bug, so if I can fix that instead of recreating everything in a new way it might not be the smartest solution but it would be the quickest one.

Anyway, I’ll open a new thread asking how can I achieve this effect in a more effiecnt way and hopefully I’ll get an answer 🙂

  • I’ll start by saying that I know pretty much nothing about AE so I’m sure there’s a better way to do what I’m doing.

My project is just a typical 3840×2160 resolution, but the effect I’m trying to achieve is quick camera movements over a great distance, enough to create a strong motion blur effect for a duration of a second or half a second.

With my zero knowledge of AE the only way I could figure out how to do it is by actually creating an absolutley giant background layer, and moving that around (with a script that a great guy from this forum wrote for me).

So I know this is ridiculous but each layer but each of these 9 layers are about 27000×15000.

And again, the size is so big to help me achieve the movement speed, travel time, and motion blur that I’m looking for.

If you know a better way of doing that, please enlighten me! 🙂

    Thanks!

  • That would probably work but unfortunately I can’t do that in this project.

Each of these layers is pretty much the maximum image size AE will let me have, so I can’t create a comp that would be big enough for more than one of them.

Alright I got what I wanted and fixed the problem by adding a multiplier to the minVal and maxVal instead!

    Thanks again 😀

That’s great! Thank you so much!

The only question I have now is which parameter can I edit in order to increase the minimum travel distance?

EDIT: Adding a multiplier to startVal and endVal seems to help, but it sometimes creates a “jump” right before the layer starts moving.

**Another note, I don’t need any “protection” that prevents the layer from flying out of the canvas, if that matters!

    Thanks again!

Thanks! I’ve already found this guy’s expression for random movement, but like you said it doesn’t have the pauses.

I’ve tried for hours to add pauses but I’m failing to even get a clue on the very basics.

If anyone can still help that’ll be great 🙂
