    Steve,

I found the problem. REALLY really stupid.

Somewhere along the line, when creating a new comp in After Effects, my comp’s default preset got changed from “NTSC DV, 720×480” to “NTSC D1, 720×486”.

I changed it back to “DV, 720×480” and everything’s fine. That was it. So simple. So stupid.

Sorry to have bothered you. At least maybe someone might see this and check their comp settings before going thru all the headaches and deadends I just did.

Anyway, your reply was still appreciated.

Thanks, Steve. No, I haven’t tried downgrading to 6 yet but I’m going to now. It’s certainly worth a try. I’ll follow up with results.

Thanks. I figured I’d probably end up doing that in the end. I guess I was just thinking that the quality might be better if I could transfer the material via copying files or, as the previous post suggested, taking signal out of the Media 100 G4 and into the FCP G5. I’m actually trying to do that as I write but I apparently haven’t discovered the right capture settings in FCP or something.

Thanks though — it’s looking more and more like I’ll end up going with your suggestion.

THAT’S an interesting idea. Since the two editing systems operate on two different computers, that might just work.

    Thanks, Warren. I’ll try that.
