Recently, AE 6.5 animation (rendered for DV) is very hitchy when played back in Final Cut Pro 4.5. Prior to this, animation played smoothly and cleanly.

I’m using the same AE render settings that I’ve always used for FCP so that hasn’t changed.

I recently upgraded from Quicktime 6 to 7 and am wondering if perhaps this is related to the problem.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks —

I’ve heard quite a few complaints with QT 7. Have you tried downgrading back to 6.whatever? I believe there’s a downgrader on the Apple site.

Thanks, Steve. No, I haven’t tried downgrading to 6 yet but I’m going to now. It’s certainly worth a try. I’ll follow up with results.

    Steve,

I found the problem. REALLY really stupid.

Somewhere along the line, when creating a new comp in After Effects, my comp’s default preset got changed from “NTSC DV, 720×480” to “NTSC D1, 720×486”.

I changed it back to “DV, 720×480” and everything’s fine. That was it. So simple. So stupid.

Sorry to have bothered you. At least maybe someone might see this and check their comp settings before going thru all the headaches and deadends I just did.

Anyway, your reply was still appreciated.

    Dan
