    its not the drives

the codec is installed on the FCP system but not the others.

you just need to copy the codec to the other systems that should be in /library/quicktime if memory serves me

so as long as the drive is less than what % full can it handle 1080i playback?

would you stripe a 2nd drive in raid 0 then? and it would be just as failsafe as a 10 drive unit?

working in AE at 1080i and final delivery will be AVID qts.

I just need to make sure that the data rate is high enough that i can render out blackmagic 8bit HD (10bit would be nice) and be able to view the files in FCP

FCP would then be used if i have to rerender any smaller pieces and cut them in to the timeline

Then export the sequences to DNxHD for the symphony (not my choice)

the windows version of QT does not have the DVCPROHD codec. (and if memory serves me, the DVCPRO 50 either)

found this out the hard way as well…

    thanks walter

one layer would be scaled up by 50% and the other down by about 50% to fit within the GUI that has been designed… so nothing would be truly uprezzed to 1080.

id love to go with a mac pro, but we need to AFX on this system as well and it looks like it still will be quite a wait till then…

  • you can find them on ebay…

though i have one right here i was sitting next to me p4 2.4 system for about a month now…

    thanks for the reply

so only the multibridge extreme then?

    not the decklinks?

    thanks again

  • i had a decklink extreme in a dell p4 2.4 system and it worked great for after effects.
whatever is in the active comp window will show live through the card (minus the cursor) and ram previews are realtime for D1 comps… no problem

any chance you can answer my question?

the company i am working with is about to get a Kona LHe card…

at this point i just need to know if it can just take a 1080i comp and preview the 4×3 cropped on the SDI side realtime… and which card will do it?

    thanks
