i am working on a project that is 1080i, but will also have a 4×3 SD version.

will the decklink card or multibridge allow monitoring on both HD and SD monitors at the same time.

although the project is 16×9, can i view a cropped 4×3 version on my SD monitor?

    thanks

    That shouldn’t be a problem.

I was told that by monitoring HD on DVI-D and outputting SDI channel B
out to an SDI SD display will show the downconversion (as specified in the control panel preferences)

I can’t get it to work though, all i see is snow on my sd monitor.
    Wish it would.

one way would be to just do the down conversion with compressor which looks pretty good actually if your settings are set for high quality on the scaling section.

You could also output to HDCAM then capture it through the hardware downconverter, which is super high quality.

    Hi Borjis,

Can you kindly contact us via our email address: support[at]blackmagic-design.com ?

Would like to find out more about the issue you’re facing with the down converted output from SDI Channel B. Send us a screenshot of your down conversion settings in the DeckLink preferences as well.

    regards

any chance you can answer my question?

at this point i just need to know if it can just take a 1080i comp and preview the 4×3 cropped on the SDI side realtime… and which card will do it?

    thanks

    Hi,

The Multibridge Extreme supports anamorphic, centre cut and letterbox down conversion. You’ll need a PCIe capable G5 to use the Multibridge Extreme. It also supports simultaneous HD and SD output.
