You can save video effects, your own solid color and find the .xml file and put it in the same directory on another computer. If the folder does not exist, make one with the exact name as on your original PC. For example, I made a color corrector, brightness and contrast and deform preset and saved them as a unique words that would not be on my pc and then searched my c drive for those words and it will show you an .xml file with that name and the path to find it.It does not work for pan and crop or track motion though for some reason.

From an earlier Post in 2011, I had to build a desktop with an x 58 chipset motherboard in order for my intensity shuttle usb3 to work on that PC. Since then I have bought two Sony Vaio laptops and a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and all three work with my intensity shuttle usb3. In fact one Vaio laptop, I put a solid state drive in it and it will capture 10-bit uncompressed Avi where are the original specs said it needed a multi Drive raid system to capture that video.

I don’t ever put a tape in my camera anymore or connect the fire wire to the computer. I capture with media Express software that is used for black magic video capture Hardware. Most every HD video camera has HDMI or component out that connects to the intensity shuttle.

Capturing from the sensor bypasses the hdv format and doesn’t capture front firework or tape. It captures as 3 different avi formats.

I believe you’re talking about put a video with a transparent alpha on the track above your original video track. Vegas by default doesn’t show through the transparent parts. Try right clicking on the top track event with the transparent alpha channel, select properties, media tab, and drop down the alpha channel and select premultiplied. I believe that’s the one that worked for me. If not try one of the others.

You can bypass the HDV compression and bypass capturing to tape if you want to and get a better format to use with green screen with by capturing straight from the camera’s image sensor. I have a Sony HVR-A1 HDV camera that I won a national green screen contest with. But one day when I put a brand new tape in it and turned it on, it died on me. I had to send it to Sony for repair. They said it blew the on board fuse and fried the motherboard and it would be 400$ to repair. I actually laughed for a second and called the Sony repair shop and asked him if he realized what he said. I told him that fuses are there to blow in order to protect the device so what use was that fuse for. I payed the $400 and never put another tape in it. I use it as my static camera and record out of the component and audio rca jacks to a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle, the USB3 version straight to an I7 computer with a solod state hard drive. It was very picky which chip set the computers motherboard had at first but I have found three other of my computers that work with it fine. It captures to Motion JPEG, 8 and 10 bit uncompressed avi if you have a fast enough computer and a raid hard drive system. That was back when I got it. I have two Sony laptops with a solid state hard drive and a Microsoft Surface Pro that will all capture at the high 10 bit uncompressed AVI. John is right though Vegas’s chromakeyer is almost useless and Boris’s is way better. I have found the After Effects is the way to go when you want to chromakey. It comes with Keylight which works Very good or you can install Primatte that is the best in my opinion. Checkout this tutorial on keying with shadows. You can make a very real looking video with this method.

You can also fix the fisheye effect in vegas. I made some presets for 1920 – 1080 wide for the gopro. Add an event fx Deform and set it like mine in the first pic. then open that tracks track motion and set it like mine in the second pic. This is if you used 1920 – 1080 wide on the gopro. This will work on narrow as well but you may need to adjust the parameters some. Once you see what it’s doing, you’ll easily be able to set it best for your needs. I just look for straight horizontal and vertical lines at the edges of the preview window.

December 16, 2015 at 5:26 pm in reply to: Improving resolution in Preview Screen in Vegas 12.A faster computer is really the answer, but you can temporary disable the color correction effect to preview and maybe use preview/auto instead of draft, then turn it back on before rendering. You should be able to see if your color correcting is right on one or two frames, with it set to best/full.
