    Yo Sarah,
It looks to me like your issue is in FCP, and how you have your sequence set up there.

Because you’re working in different aspect ratios fix this up in FCP.

If you want it all letterboxed, apply a letterbox to your 4:3 footage in FCP and keep the letterboxed stuff, well, letterboxed. Export it Full Res, 720X480 (if it’s SD)

Bring it into DVD SP and do 4:3 aspect ratio (720×480)

This way all your footage will be letterboxed and in the correct aspect ratio.

    Does that answer ya question?

At our company we use a Primera BravoPro.

We an all Mac house, and the Primera works fine with the iMac that it’s connected to.

It’s quite efficient for our needs, with the only big drawback being the print cartridges are expensive. However, the printing does look quite clean.

The main thing I dislike about the Primera, is the Discribe software that we use to burn/print DVDs on the BravoPro. The software is not very intuitive and is a bit cumbersome.

Not sure if there is other software that works with the Primera Bravo. As for separate units, I can’t speak to that…

    I second the Boris suggestion.

It’s not cheap, but it’s easy to use and very customizable.

Their matte choker/matte cleanup options work great.

You can also copy the original clip(s), and paste attributes into the clips you want to have the same settings. This can be done by right clicking those clips. Make sense?

    Phil,
Not quite sure if this answers your question, but I would capture it into your laptop using Firewire. Most Digibetas have this option.

Thanks all for the feedback, and Bill for your apologies. I have been editing on FCP for a few years now, and am currently in film school to learn more about all facets of production. With that being said, I’m the first to realize that although I consider myself to be proficent at FCP, in reality I probably know/understand only half of its capabilities. I try to look up in the manual, but if I can’t find what I’m looking for intially, I have found this to be a great place for solving those head scratching problems. I’m thankful it is such a handy resource, as we are all in some stage of the learning process.

Best of luck to you all. Take care.

October 12, 2006 at 1:28 pm in reply to: Importing Audio from AVID

I understand the video needs to be in AVI file, but what I am struggling with is this:

Is there sometime of file that I can export out of AVID that is comprised of all audio tracks (seperated out) as well as a video track. I was told the only way to do it was export video from AVID then export each track seperately and then go into Audition and input Video and all audio tracks. Seems like there’s got to be an easier way (maybe some kind of universal project file?)

    Thanks!
