In the meantime, you should update to latest PreRollPost 2.6.4 just posted this week. The installer includes updates for MacOS 10.12 as well as latest patches from LTFS and FUSE. Just click “check for updates” inside the application to get it.

January 13, 2017 at 7:20 pm in reply to: PreRollPost – Drive Connection Lost on Tape MountThis is a problem with the newer FUSE not being compatible with applications not specifically updated for it. PreRollPost has now also been updated for compatibility with MacOS 10.12.
Please update to latest version 2.6.4.
Be sure to let the installer update your LTFS and OSXFuse. Restart the computer.

Glad to hear you figured out what was causing your failed copies. Yes, it’s usually a good idea to set the Symbolic Link treatment option to something other than Cancel.
Likewise you’re correct that determining video types is time consuming and can also cause trip ups with files this option may think are videos but turn out to not be handled. This option is needed when you’re simultaneously making proxies using ProxyMill, in which case you generally know the content and quality of the video files you’re feeding the archive.
We recommend pre-formatting tapes ahead of a spanning session, but the software will prompt to pause and do that if need be.

August 24, 2016 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Large number of copy and verification errors in LTO using PreRoll PostSorry to hear you’re struggling with this. We have had a handful of folks running into it but have never been able to replicate the issue in-house which tends to say it’s hardware or data related.
That said, one recent report included the error log which showed that LTFS lost connection to the drive, thus resulting in cascading copy and verification failures. In that case it clearly was not an application issue; it was something in between the app and the LTO device (LTFS, OSXFuse, SAS/TB drivers, etc).
BTW, IBM just released another LTFS update about a month ago to “fix certain problems” with LTO-7 devices. So it’s a good idea to keep up to date with their drivers, especially if you’re constantly updating OSX.
One thing we can do is make the application more fault tolerant and we’re working on that. We already added a “reverify” feature that attempts to read and gather the checksum a second time when a comparison error is reported. Of course that doesn’t help if the ‘connection’ to the drive is lost.
Spanning does work in PRP, else we wouldn’t have put it in. But if you’re having issues it’s safer from a time investment to try to do just one tape at a time until you figure out what’s failing. What we’ve noticed in the 5+ years we’ve been working with LTO and Sony ODA is that people tend to throw all manner of files at it, and some just aren’t LTFS happy. Our original assumptions that people would only archive field footage or finished products proved false.

April 1, 2016 at 3:09 pm in reply to: PreRollPost vs Silverstack for simultaneous footage offload/LTO backupJoe, Thanks for your kind words about ShotPut Pro. Please visit us at NAB booth this year to discuss your LTO needs.
I’m not aware that SilverStack nor Cat DV have direct LTO integration? And BRU is not LTFS based, so you should be sure what your client’s LTO deliverable requirements are before acquiring software.
PreRoll Post is available now for Mac or Win, and both support LTFS formatted tapes. Both also create tapes to Discovery Channel’s specs. Both support LTO-5 through LTO-7, and we also sell several hardware solutions depending upon your connectivity needs and budget.
There are other software solutions for LTO control out there ranging from $500- $15000 depending on your needs. What we offer is a local single deck control application, that has a backend SQLite database for keeping track of tapes and their contents. You may also add options for Proxy generation (ProxyMill) with thumbs and playback (HD-VU2).
Take a look at the website https://www.imagineproducts.com for demos, product specs, and tutorial videos.

BTW, how’s your tests of PreRollPost going? We noticed your technician downloaded twice last week…

November 15, 2014 at 8:11 pm in reply to: PreRoll Post – abort verify and release hard drive?Yeah, I agree, a cheap shot in response to another (“ugh”). I apologize. However, this is a technical forum Tim, not a sales one, so I figured you deserved it.
And do you really want to start comparing what BRU can do to your tapes? We damaged a tape just trying to use BRU! Those who live in glass houses…

November 15, 2014 at 6:54 pm in reply to: PreRoll Post – abort verify and release hard drive?Who said anything about losing data or an unmountable tape? Any data written to an LTFS tape is intact (just like the magical BRU software), it’s just the index that may need syncing.
Why do I always envision windmills whenever I see a post by Tim Jones? ;-\
