Well, I guess I don’t feel like such an idiot. I was looking in the help files for almost an hour without success. I figured it had to be pretty simple – but without knowing, I was wandering in circles.

So, yes – Apple – how ’bout a little documentation when you change something?

Thanks again, Shane – for getting me this answer so quickly. This forum is one of my most important work tools!

Ya know – I thought it would be something simple and that I was just missing it – and true enough.

Thanks so much – working like a charm!

  • Man, I wouldn’t use your XL1 at all. Why are you? Why don’t you just go straight from your cassette deck to your built in audio sound card on your pc? All you need for software is something like Cool Edit Pro. There are shareware versions for free down;pad at download.com. just runa search for Cool Edit Pro.

Then, hook a simple dual RCA to mini plug from cassette deck to computer. Cool Edit is a sound recording program and wav editor. Basically, you’ll just have to hit record fro there. You may have to adjust your input levels in your sound controls, but this is a very simple way to record cassette tapes.

I think the mobile Pre is a decent enough sound card for what you’re doing. Are you using a mixer? A simple Yamaha $79 mixer can help a lot. Gives you some EQ and expands the volume of the recording, too. I’d agree not to use the t-shirt. If you want a cheap popper stopper, you can try panty hose streched over a circular bent shaped coat hanger.

I had the same problem with my still images – came to this forum and Nick Toth’s tip about setting the motion processor to the fastest fixed the problem for me too. I was beating myself senseless for hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.

    Thanks, Nick!
