Not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but it sounds like the Mac and iOS app by Flixel may be what you are looking for.

To answer your first question, there is no designated hot key to toggle between composite video and audio waveform views, but you can easily set it up in the Source Monitor Panel section of your keyboard shortcuts.

Click the small wrench icon near the timeline timecode and uncheck “Show Video Keyframes”

I’ve done this using the 3D Layer Distributor script. Set position keyframes for your layers, move ahead in the timeline, and run the script. It will randomly move your layers in 3D space based on parameters you set in the script.

A quick and dirty way to do this is duplicate your footage layer, change the top layer to add, add a fast blur at about 40 Blurriness (or whatever looks best to you), and then either keyframe or use a wiggle expression on the opacity of that layer.
You can also use a plugin like Twitch to get more control of the effect.

There is no such thing as a 4 year degree in After Effects and I would venture to guess that most people hiring in the creative realm don’t really care what your degree is in if your work is good. If places you want to work require a 4 year degree, most areas in the creative/arts world should suffice as they are all intertwined anyway. Graphic design, film production, 3D (and 2D) animation, etc are all key parts of creating motion graphics/effects and studying these areas will certainly improve your work.

It’s hard to help when the only info you supplied is that your video is 9 minutes long. You don’t need to be a tech wiz in order to be an effective editor, but I suggest you get at least a basic understanding of computers and the software. It might be boring to learn about RAM and graphics cards and rendering, but will benefit you big time in the long run.

Kramer also made a nice Vibrance plugin that should do the trick. I haven’t used it much, but it supposedly will give you some better (aka more vibrant) results than hue/saturation.
