Just for future reference for anybody using a HD-PVR, here is what i finally came up with, I do the colour tweaking using the settings button while recording in TME and record at 1080i, i then use Smart Cutter to losslessly trim the .TS file, I then use StaxRip + x264 with settings 2 pass animation medium, the results are great im currently getting 720p files at the same size and quality as i was getting from 480p WMV files, so there you have it, that is now my preferred method

Well I’ve done quite a bit of experimenting tonight and have fallen in love with x264 lol It took me over 20 mins to render a 24 second clip using WMV but using x264 it takes 2 mins, look way better and is much smaller, so it’s win win win, sadly this means goodbye to sony vegas, well except when im making montages 😀

Yea when i was helping my friend set up his Happauge we had the same problem, the issue is that the file sppecifies the original width and height as differnt to the original width and height IE its got 2 different width and height values, 4 in total, i guess its a glitch of some sort in the way media extreme saves, the solution was to not save in MP4, save in .TS instead
