Hi all. I hate to admit that I got a little lost in the technical lingo of some of these post..a bit over my head.

Perhaps if I rephrase the question more simply, it might be clearer what I’m asking.
I’ve been using Guardian Maximus 2-drive RAID 1 setups for a while.
I want to graduate to a similar RAID with more drives that I can swap in and out (so I just have one big enclosure, rather than so many smaller boxes).

So, really, the question is this:

    Will this RAID:

be just as fast as this RAID?
    https://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/GM3Q7H40T128/

If it is, then that would answer my question. Because the guaridan works fine for me.

    Thanks again!!

James, your solution didn’t work for me.

BUT (and this is cause for rejoicing) the menu item just below “Close all bins” works.

“Home” under the windows menu pops the bin in place so I can reach it.

    Yay!!!

okay, to add to the frustration:

I ended up hooking back up to my 2 monitors to harness the windows that were out of reach.
Actually, the main culprits were scripts. I was able to get most of the scripts, but there were still three or four that had the top of the window above reach, which means I couldn’t move the danged thing.

I tried all kinds of combinations of monitors (one, two, laptop with two) and all different resolutions and workspaces.

But I STILL couldn’t grab those pesky script windows.

To be honest, it feels like an AVID bug.
    I hope not!
I hope I’m doing something stupid.

    Can anyone enlighten me???

    Thanks, Dan S.

Even if I’m using RAID 1 for redundancy?

    thanks for the response.
I was running of my external.
    (usb 3.0)
    My normal avid media drive.

But then I thought I’d see if that was the bottleneck, so I started running of the internal SSD.
    Same problem with both.

Images are all JPGS at various resolutions, averaging around 4000×3000 pixels.
Large, but the same resolution that I”ve used a number of times without issues.

Seeming to recall that avid prefers TIFs to JPGs?

    any thoughts?
    THanks again!

Ahh…just found the problem after a little googling.
apparently it’s often caused by a “/” or other “illegal” character.

Turns out it was a music CD I had in my drive with a slash.
Ejected the CD and all’s well.

    Thanks!!

How do I find out if I even have Boris included with my MC package?
I have the regular (not academic) version. Does it automatically include boris?

I like the idea of doing the rough in MC then refining in AE.

My codec is kinda mediocre, unfortunately (given what I’m given).

Would it be better to upres the HDV codec to something better before doing anything, or is that just “adding more zeros” that won’t help?

    Thanks, Dan

    Shot on a Sony Z5. I believe it’s HDV 29.97 at 1080.

Backgrounds are going to be fairly simple stills, most likely.

Can you create the key in AE, then add BG in MC?
Or is that a good idea?

Prefer not to edit in Premier, if possible, since I don’t know that program.
