It is really quite a big setback when you’re editing a documentary. Being able to organize material and tag clips and add descriptions is an absolute must. So yes, this is a major setback for my process.

I found an old post regarding this issue. It seems that you can’t put markers on merged clips, or at least, the marker info dissapears when you close an re-open the clip.

Furthermore you can’t export XML’s of merged clips?

    – I can’t colorgrade the project in a seperate piece of software?

    Is Adobe on crack?

I mean, I have around 30 different interviews and NO WAY of keeping track of anything anybody says!

I am working completely blind and have to scrub through clips over and over again to find something I want…

How is this even possible that this error hasn’t been corrected???

    Let me start over:

I have ALOT of video footage shot on DSLR. B-roll and interviews.
Approximately 11 days of shooting arranged into folders corresponding to a specific date.

    Example:
    EHF_101112_DK/
    EHF_101112_DK_001.MOV
    EHF_101112_DK_002.MOV
    EHF_101112_DK_003.MOV
    EHF_101112_DK_004.MOV
    Etc.

I also have ALOT of audio recorded externally, ALSO arranged into folders corresponding to a certain date.

    Example:

    101112/
    001T01_1.WAV
    001T01_2.WAV
    001T01_3.WAV
    001T01_4.WAV
    001T02_1.WAV
    001T02_2.WAV
    001T02_3.WAV
    001T02_4.WAV

How do I go about the process of syncing the footage and merging the files into sorted folders? I am on Windows 8 using Premiere Pro CS6.

    What is the typical workflow?

    Please help!

March 28, 2012 at 4:06 pm in reply to: Apply flash effect in Wide Screen

All the material was converted to:

    Apple ProRes (HQ), 1.280 x 720
Linear PCM, 32 bit big endian signed
    integer, 48000 Hz, Mono

    Sequence settings:

    1280 x 720 (Aspect Ratio HDTV 720p (16:9)
    Apple ProRess 422 (HQ)

Those are my settings at the moment, I still get the black bars in the top and bottom,
    what am I doing wrong?

Also, do you know any other plugins good for a horror trailer?
    Like inverted flashes and stuff?

I know these are possible with the effects already built in, but the transitions you linked were pretty good.

  • I just tried that, same result, still blocks and artifacts.

  • I used the standard settings that came with the preset.
Yes, I exported a self-contained QT from FCP, which looks fine.
