what you try do do can only be realised with auto-activated buttons. you need to create several menus (each for every of your names) and link to each of them….

disadvantages:
– no menu-audio
– navigation would be very slow

there´s no other way to do what you want to do – or you need to think about a different navigation-idea.

it would be a different story if you would create a BD.

you can use MPEG streamclip to do a good downscaling (PC and MAC)

if you are on mac, you can also use bitvice purifier for downconverting – is doing a real good job.

verbatim produces different types of media in different production facilities all over the world. some are good, some a bad. you need to make sure that the media does contain “AZO+” quality.

they are at better/best quality.

you can also read out the header-info of the disk and look at the list of DVD-types.

I the easy way is to use compressor and do a format-conversion with it. therefor you might look at it´s templates – you´ll find PAL>NTSC-frame-rate conversion in it.

if you have PAL uncompressed, you might go to 29.98 non dropped frames – I got the best results with it.

you need to have a look at apple>other workflows>advanced format conversion> standart definition>SD-8boit uncompressed NTSC

take it and create your own preset out of it. change codec to PRO RES HQ and turn on the frame-control (3rd tab).

use:

rezise filter: better
output fields: progressive
deinterlacer: best

under retime-control choose:

rate conversion: better or best

be awared: it´ll take approx 8-11h for a 1-1.5h film to convert! start with a small file as test first.

aaah – that was the missing information! 😉

if you would like to create a BD that will be playable on BD-players you need to go VC-1, MPEG2HD or H264 by spec.

you can transcode the film using adobe media encoder CS4/5, or if you are working with FCP7, you can select compressor to transcode your video.

I would choose h264 – it´s a high-quality-codec that will save a lot disk-space compared to MPEG2HD at the same bitrate. you can choose much lower data-rates to get the same result than MPEG2HD.

for your audio choose AC-3 dolby digital.

if you are using adobe media encoder be sure to use H264 blu-ray settings.

if you´re authoring with adobe encore, be sure to create the project-file with the correct transcoding-settings, otherwise all your assets will be transcoded again.

first of all you might tell us which frame-rate you are using and if you need to go PAL or NTSC.

but if you have really sharp HD-pictures, you need to soften (don´t laugh!) the picture.

should it be a blu-ray t obe played on blu-ray-players? so you need to go bd-specs.

in that reason you need to transcode your video-files to MPEG2, H264 or VC-1 and author the disk with a bd-authoring-software.

if you just wont to have your HD-movie on disk (as file), you could use any burning-sofware that could handle UDF2.5/2.6.

you might change your DVD-transcoding-setting to fit DVD-9. In your case the bitrate is to high.

what kind of audio and transcoding-setting do you use for the DVD? PCM or dolby AC-3?

I would advice to use AC-3.

what it the total running-time of the BD/DVD?

you need to do a format-conversion. if you have FCP youvcan do it with compressor, therefor you could try to use one of apples templates for format-conversion, or you can create your own setting.

but be awared: it´ll take some/a lot time, depending on your frame-control-settings.

if you are not working with FCP you need to take after effects and do the retiming with it.

there is also another workflow if it would be OK, if your video might run 4% slower with 24p (or 29.98NDF).

therefor you need to conform your 25i to 24p, after you have deinterlaced it.

it doesn´t matter which way you´ll go on computer, it´ll take some time.

other option: do a hardware-conversion from PAL to NTSC, but that could only be done with a service-provider.
