I agree with you – encore could be a powerful tool, if adobe would delete all it´s limitations (and bugs).

I would be happy if there would be a full-working professional BD-authoring-app for mac, like larry wants to programm, but as we all know – it´s a bunch of work and that takes time.

so by the way easyBD is a good possibility to create simple BDs and there will be improovements on it that you´ll like – I know.

there is a new application that could produce easily BDs called EasyBD from dvd logic. it´s a simple spec-level-bd-auhtoring-tool.

this is a totally uncommon pixel-aspec, so you need to set to a common pixel-aspec, but another point is you haven´t told us, what you really want to do with your file.

should it go on BD or should it go on DVD?

if it should go BD you need to create 720p50 or 720p60, if you will go DVD you need to create 720×480 or 720×576, depending on your chosen TV-standart.

hi sean,
there are several cheap authoring-application. if you have m4v- and wav-files it would be very easy. m4v-files created by adobe premiere or after effects are H264-files with a different file-id.

if you would like to do a fast BD-authoring you could do it with EasyBD from dvd logic.

just have a look at their demo-version. I´m running it with IGEditor as well, so you can create professional looking BDs.

if you burned your DVD/BD from within encore you´ll get an UDF-volume, that should play in all players.

if not – you might think about a different disk-medias. I would recommend verbatim or tayo yuden – that´s the best medias I´ve ever worked with.

have you tested your DVD in computer-drives?

this is a bug in CS5-BD-abstraction-layer! even if you have subtitle turned OFF it would show subtitle 1 (as far as I remember).

there is an internal bugfix for that – but it not has been released – I presume they´ll implement it into encore CS6.

workarround would be to put a blank sub into subtitle track 1 and allways point on it if sub should be off.

hi michael,
both programms using the same source-code: mainconcept encoder engine, but you have less possibilities to set within toast.

I´ve seen a lot toast-encodings and they mostly have been bad.

I would prefer to use adobe media encoder or compressor instead and do the authoring within encore.

could you please explain in which codec is your original audio-file? WAV, AIFF, MP2 or MP3?

last 2 things wont work with encore, even if you could import it – best way for working DVD/BD is to transcode your video-material using adobe media encoder and 2nd step using this transcoded files with encore.

hi andrew,
the first question would be: did you create your sliedshow in 1080? if not – your programm will be upscaled that wont result in good, crispy quality.

another point: toast encoding is no high-quality encoding – so if you would like to have a nice picture I would advice to use adobe encore for BD-authoring and do the encoding using adobe media encoder, apple compressor or even better.

another issue is your BD-player or display. I don´t know what you´ve done: 1080interlaced or 1080progressive.

depending on your player-setting it wont be displayed correct on screen – maybe it would be deinterlaced where it is progressive or wise versa.

this all gives you a bad picture.

you see, there are several gaps to be awared.
