Encode/transcode exactly as you would any H.264 file. It’s just a different wrapper (Container)

You can’t always just change the extension (which is effectively saying I’m changing the wrapper or multiplexer of the x264 file from Quicktime to Flash). The reason it plays ok in Quicktime is because it’s still a Quicktime. You could probably change the extension to .PDF and it would still play in Quicktime player.

Bottom line is that you need to encode to .F4V

The player on the webpage needs to have exactly those dimensions, do not let the player rescale the video.

Apples logic is that you bought a product called Final Cut Studio that is comprised of multiple applications (Adobe do the same with Creative Suite).

Silly of Apple to think that they are running a business rather than a charity!

Bottom line is that if you want to make use of the Final Cut Suite on multiple Macs at the same time then you will need multiple licences in order to remain legal.

By the way, have you heard of Qmaster?

MP4 is just a wrapper, so what codec are you wrapping?

WMV has many versions, which version are you targeting?

Simply put, your .mov (you don’t specify what codec was used) is already compressed, and in this case it’s compressed at, as you say 4 times greater than the MPEG-2 you are trying to create.

So in other words, say your .mov is compressed at 500Kb/s, your .m2v could be at 2Mb/s.

Tell us more about the .mov (where it came from, what codec, frame size datarate and so on and we might be able to help further.

Sorry, but to be brutally honest, before using a professional suite of tools like Final Cut Studio, you should have already got a grasp of these extremely basic principals.
