I think you will see a performance boost with a ‘current’ system, as 10.6 will bring a brand new, re-written version of Quicktime amongst many other things, and apart from anything else there’s a massive speed up of stuff in safari running on current hardware. Have a look at Apple.com. What I was really getting at howver is that whatever processors are in macs at the time 10.6 ships will see the most dramatic speed boost.

I’ve just had another look at the two before and after images in a reference monitor. The ‘after’ image is certainly the better one of the two with far more natural skin tones and white balance. I don;t see any reason to adjust the saturation back to the Before image with to me looks overly saturated and an odd colour cast.

Frame size should be 768×432.
Frame rate has no effect on saturation. You should adjust saturation as part of the transcode process.
Lower the datarate until the picture starts to break up, then raise it slightly from there.
You should then have a perfect transcode.__________________________________________________________________

Two things are wrong there:
1. Letting your web guy dictate the size of your video frame, it should be the other way around and only choose frames sizes from these tables:

2. Your data rate is WAY too low and there is no way that the COdec could encode it at that bit rate. you should be looking at a minimum of 300kb/s for that video

Well it really depends what you call full screen but Flash video NEVER looks good when scaled up. If you want high quality video that fills the screen then don’t wrap it in Flash.

I suggest you lower your frame size use this page as a guide to using div 16 frame sizes.
Of course you could up your bit rate but I think you’ll be better off with a smaller frame.

You left out what frame size you’re using!?
700kb/s will look great at 320×240 but like digital soup at 768×576!

Glad you are getting much better looking video but I’d suggest these changes to make it look even better:
Change you frame rate to 30, or ‘Same as Source’
Frame size either 768 x 436 or 704 x 396 or 640 x 360 (you need dimension that are equally divisible by 16, 8 or 4)Check out the other frame sizes here:

No idea why it’s getting desaturated, can you post a before and after screenshot somewhere?

You are not the first in this forum to experience problems with Sorenson (or indeed Windows).
In most cases a complete uninstall of Avid, Quicktime and Sorenson (including using Regedit where necessary) and fresh reinstall does the trick.

Episode is the best application for this sort of work on the Mac but if you’re prepared to spend the time with Automator and Quicktime pro you can automate the whole process for much less outlay (or indeed free if you already have QTPro.
Other apps you could look at include ffMPEGx
